B3 WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
Bublr’s workforce development program is a career and employment initiative for young adults aged 14 to 21. Known as B3, this 6-month program is conducted in partnership with the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Milwaukee and DreamBikes. It aims to provide Milwaukee-area youth with valuable work experience and certification as bike mechanics.
PHASE 1 - BGC B!KE
During the first phase, young adults spend eight weeks in the B&GC Bike Program at the Mary Ryan Boys and Girls Club of Greater Milwaukee in Sherman Park. They learn basic bike repair skills and are introduced to the full six-month program. At the end of this phase, students receive a bike they have rebuilt. Successful completion qualifies them for the next phase at DreamBikes.
PHASE 2 - DreamBikes
During the eight weeks at DreamBikes, students gain exposure to a retail environment. They expand their bike repair skills across a wider range and develop soft skills through customer interactions. Completion of this phase prepares them for the final phase at Bublr.
PHASE 3 - Bublr Bikes
At Bublr, students specialize in maintaining bikeshare bikes, learn about system balancing, and enhance their customer service skills. The phase concludes with a written exam. Graduates receive a certificate recognized by BCycle, the bikeshare supplier for 43 U.S. cities including Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Cincinnati, and Indianapolis. Over 70 students have graduated from the program to date.
